Nestled in the middle of beautiful Lancaster County farmland are Hillside's Cottages, the first being the Chicken Coop. You are invited to relax in the three-cornered waterjet tub for two with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the lush green meadows and watch the moon come up over the horse barn. Next to the tub is the gas log fireplace which provides a thoroughly romantic setting, while the plush king bed with hand-made quilt and picket fence headboard beckons you to sink down and ease your stress away. Come celebrate your wedding, anniversary, birthday, or simply get away to this peaceful country hideaway for two.
With a country barn theme, the room has a raised ceiling with exposed original barn beams, two ceiling fans, baseboard hot water heat and is fully air conditioned. A "Country Love" Amish quilt hangs on the main wall of knotty pine barn siding. Rest awhile on the cranberry gingham loveseat while you watch your favorite program or movie on the TV,VCR, or DVD player, or listen to romantic music on the CD player which you will find in the hand painted entertainment center. You are welcome to bring your own movies and CD's, or borrow some from the Main Inn.
The bath amenities include a separate toilet room, vanity with an oversized sink and mirror, and a large shower for two. A small wet bar features a sink, microwave, refrigerator and coffeemaker. Everything is provided that accompanies breakfast including coffee, tea and orange juice. You are welcome to bring food to warm in the microwave.
A piping hot all you can eat breakfast is served in the Main Inn at 9 am each morning. Entrees might include cherry cobbler, made from cherries picked from our very own cherry tree, or a fresh fruit salad. Creamy scrambled eggs, apple pancakes, fruited toast or stuffed French toast might be the main course with ham, bacon, sausage or Lancaster County's fresh scrapple. Muffins, bagels or croissants may also be part of the meal and cereal is always available for those that choose to eat lighter. There's always a bottomless pot of coffee, regular or decaf, as well as a smorgasboard of teas. Orange juice, grapefruit juice and spring water are also served.
"My wife and I stayed in the Chicken Coop in April. It's been a very long time since we stayed at such a well-kept inn. It was a pleasure to relax and enjoy the hard work you have invested in making your inn so warm.
"We enjoyed ourselves so much, the whirlpool was great, and having breakfast served that was fit for a king was an added luxury.
"Thanks for making our weekend special. We will be back soon."
